You can find specific articles or articles
pertaining to subject matter of interest to you. You will find
five options for finding the magazine
articles you need.
First, a magazine article search can begin at your closest library.
That may be your school, college,
university, corporate or public library. Most libraries will either have
CD-ROM's or online access
to abstracts or full-texts of magazine articles. Many libraries now offer
access to these same
databases online from the library or from your home computer. Find
your library online here.
Generally
you need your library ID and password. Look for EBSCO products at the library.
Here are some
of these EBSCO products ("MAS" stands for "magazine article search"):
A convenient online source for full-text magazine article search can be
performed at the Electric
Library. A list of the magazines available for search is available at
this link. This is a subscription
based service with a 30-day free trial.
If you would like to perform a magazine article search and then have the
article faxed to you. This is
the UnCover
service.
The UnCover database contains tables of contents indexing more than 18,000 journals and
magazines. Information from more than 8,000,000 articles, from 1989 to as recent as this week's
issue, is included and can be searched.
The UnCover document delivery service provides fax delivery of most articles and will allow you to
request articles from issues prior to 1989 as long as the journal or magazine is included in the
database and delivery is permitted. Articles are delivered via fax within 24 - 48
hours.
UnCover also offers Desktop Image Delivery on a growing number of journals. You will see
a special
icon on articles and journals that offer this feature. This service allows the user to order an article and
have it delivered directly to his or her computer. The user is then able to view it using a special viewer
provided at no cost by UnCover. You download the viewer only once.
A limited number of current and recent articles can be searched and found at MagPortal.
The publisher of the magazine from which you want a past article may be able
to provide you with a
copy of the article. Look up the publisher
and contact them to see if they can help with your search.
